After 12 very happy years living and working on the Kintyre (Made famous by Paul McCartney and Wings with their song - 'Mull of Kintyre') on the West Coast of Scotland we have decided to sell up. The reason for this is that I (David) am going to train for ministry and such a training means a move to Durham University. Therefore we thought that the life we have enjoyed, the peace, complete lack of serious crime (people still don't lock their doors here!) and established bookshop may suit someone else looking to relocate and enjoy the opportunities that such a great part of the United Kingdom offers.

Barochan House this spring with cherry trees just coming into blossom.

Overview

What we are offering is a lovely Grade B listed house built around 1855 by the Duke of Argyll with 4 bedrooms, large kitchen, 3 Reception rooms, attractive large walled garden situated in a quiet part of the town. It is about 4 minutes walk from the bookshop which is a freehold shop unit just off Campbeltown's Main Street. The shop is well established selling new, antiquarian, second hand, and remaindered books and has seen a year on year increase over the last five years presently with a turn over of one hundred thousand pounds p.a. The business is internet and high street based with sophisticated software in place along with around 12,000 books. An interest in books is really all you need to have as we will happily offer direction and advice as to how to continue to build the business.

Asking Price

We are looking for offers around £295,000 for the whole estate.

Legal Bit

1. Offers are to be in writing from your Solicitor to our Solicitor who is:

Mrs Jane Gallagher at C & D Mactaggarts Solicitors, Castlehill, Campbeltown, Argyll.

2. In Scotland you need to use a Scottish Solicitor. In Campbeltown there are two practices, one is the one we use (above). There is also Stewart Balfour and Sutherland, also on Castlehill in Campbeltown. Their conveyancing specialist is Mr Alan Walker.

3. We have tried hard to put together this website in an honest and jargon free manner. However we are not experts and would always advise viewing to verify the details for yourselves.

4. If the sale is to go to a closing date anyone expressing interest will be informed.
